According to Forbes, Elon Musk is now the richest person in the world with his net worth estimated to be approximately $180 billion. It appears to be a tight tussle at the top between Musk and Jeff Bezos, with less than one billion separating them.

Musk is best known for being the CEO and Founder of Tesla, but he spreads his time and energy across many different roles. Based on his current responsibilities, it appears as though he is doing the work of ten people:

7 lessons that will make your transition to online workshops a little easier.

As a facilitator, I regularly deliver face to face (F2F) workshops for organisations all around the world. Well, that was until the COVID-19 outbreak.

The inability to travel or even share the same room with others made me have to rethink how I delivered workshops. Traditionally, I would stray away from online learning as it doesn’t compare to being physically in front of a group of people and having their undivided attention. Nothing beats F2F.

Why I can’t go back to 9–5 — The impact of the 6-hour workday on a new parent.

In 2018, we decided to challenge the 9 to 5 workday at Collective Campus and launched an experiment; the 9 to 3 workday. Given the successful outcomes of the experiment, the 6-hour workday has become the norm for our organisation. At the time. there was so much interest in the concept that our CEO was asked to put forward the case for the 6 hour workday for Harvard Business Review. …

Are you part of the 85% of people who hate their job? You don’t have to be.

A staggering 85% of people are unhappy in their jobs.

Yes, you read that right. Only 15% of people are actually engaged at work.

These statistics were brought to light through a global poll conducted by Gallup and prove that most employees out there simply do not enjoy their job. For many, it can be put down to the lack of work-life balance — in other words, too much work and not enough time. …

Customer expectations are changing, and so should your approach.

The year was 2012 and like many young working professionals, I caught the startup itch. Rather than just talking about ideas, I decided to actually execute on one of them. Together with a couple of friends, I launched a men’s sock brand called Barnaby.

“It’s only by saying “no” that you can concentrate on the things that are really important.” Steve Jobs

From a young age, we are taught to take others’ needs into consideration before our own. How does this translate into adult life? Well, we end up saying ‘yes’ more than we probably should.

Are you able to meet up for a coffee to discuss my new business idea? Yes.

Are you free to work on this project over the next 4 weeks? Yes.

Can you review this 200-page document? Yes.

To help you get back some of your time, I have…

Raising a newborn, while working at a startup, is no easy feat.

Trust me.

Being an entrepreneur by itself is hard enough, let alone adding the responsibility of raising a child. Although both are challenging in their own unique way, Paul Graham points out a clear similarity, “like having a child, running a startup is the sort of experience that’s hard to imagine unless you’ve done it yourself”.

Navigating parenthood in parallel to being an entrepreneur poses many challenges. There are several things that I wish I was told before my daughter came into the world.

Here are 10 things…

The impact of COVID-19 has been unprecedented on the day to day life of people around the world. The things that we once took for granted have been taken away from us. We can no longer have dinner at a restaurant, watch a movie in a theatre or even take our children to the local park. It is in moments like this that journaling and practising gratitude becomes even more important.

The process of keeping a diary on a daily basis dates back to at least the 10th century Japan. Like meditation, it is a ritual that many successful individuals…

The concept of remote working has moved from being a luxury to a necessity for many employees around the world. This movement towards remote working is an opportunity to explore new online tools that will hopefully will still be useful when we return to normal working environments (whenever that will be!). You only have to look at the share price of Zoom to see how tools that support remote working are currently fairing (spoiler alert: share price is sky rocketing).

To support employees that are now working from home, below are a list of tools that you never knew you…

The general public does not commonly view councils as being fast-moving or innovative. Given local government faces increasingly demanding and complex community expectations, it is more imperative now than ever for them to move faster. Over the last few years, councils in Australia have been investing heavily in building innovation culture and more recently the progressive councils have started to look “outside the building” for solutions that have the potential to address community challenges.

In 2019, three leading councils in Victoria (City of Ballarat, City of Casey, City of Whittlesea) partnered with Collective Campus to create opportunities for startups…
